About the business and the role
Scientia Clinical Research (SCR) is a FDA audited, not-for-profit early phase clinical trial company.  SCR operates a 30-bed phase I unit co-located within the Prince of Wales Hospital.    
SCR conducts approximately 35 clinical trials per year, the majority being First Time In Human (FTIH) single and multiple dose studies, food effect studies, drug interaction studies, ethnopharmacology studies (Japanese, Korean, Chinese), biosimilar studies, formulation studies and specialty studies incorporating a range of pharmacodynamic markers such as Flow Cytometry and Cytokine analysis. 
These studies are being performed in healthy volunteers as well as patient populations. Most of our sponsors are multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. 
This is a maternity leave role, starting ASAP to December 2024, with the option for continued employment for the right candidate.


Job tasks and responsibilities
As a clinical trial pharmacist/technician, you will assist in the investigational product (IP) management of early phase (1/2) clinical research projects.  You will have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, to ensure that all IP related activities are conducted according to trial specific protocols, GCP and SCR procedures ensuring patient and participant safety, and the integrity of trial activities and data. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, scientists, clinical project managers, study coordinators, nurses, as well as with external stakeholders.


Skills and experience

To be successful for this position you will fulfil the following criteria:

  • Experience in clinical trials is preferred but not essential
  • Experience in aseptic compounding is an advantage
  • Understanding of pharmacy legislation, guidelines and policies, including the role of the TGA
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with experience coordinating multiple projects
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders in a multidisciplinary framework
  • Self-motivation, pro-activity and an interest in clinical research
  • Strong organisational skills and proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver high quality results
  • Commitment to quality and excellent attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of clinical research, ICH GCP and the basics of drug development
  • Ability to be flexible in working hours if required
